The Col de l’Iséran is a huge Alpine crossing, linking the Tarentaise and the Maurienne, that's often cited as the highest paved pass in the Alps. For cyclists, the magic is its scale: from Bourg‑Saint‑Maurice it’s a 47.4 km effort with 2,050 m of elevation gain, topping out at 2,770 m.

It's more an endurance test than a wall, but altitude and weather make it feel properly epic. The Col de l’Iséran also has real pro‑cycling pedigree: the Tour de France first used the pass in 1938, and it has returned in multiple editions.
