Description

Few climbs are woven into Tour de France folklore like Puy de Dôme. It first appeared as a summit finish in 1952 and became immortal in 1964, when Jacques Anquetil and Raymond Poulidor rode shoulder to shoulder in one of cycling’s most iconic duels. In 1975, the mountain delivered more drama when Eddy Merckx was struck by a spectator near the top. Its long-awaited Tour return in 2023 only added to the legend.

The climb is brutally steep and climbs 5.8 km to 1,415m with 592m of elevation gain. Its 10.3% average gradient and 13.7% maximum make it short, sharp and unforgettable. Exactly the kind of ascent that stays in your legs, lungs and memory long after the summit.
